Kayaking round Mersea Island in WINTER! A cold, wet and windy paddling adventure (Sea Kayaking)

After recently binging a lot of content from Beau Miles (especially the Bass Strait series) I wanted to head out on my own sea kayak adventure. This is the third time I have completed a full circumnavigation of Mersea Island (now twice by kayak and once by SUP at night time) and this time I wanted to document it 🛶🏝

I planned for this day because we had high afternoon tides. The winds were strong, but at least they were assisting me for half of the paddle and it was not a dangerous off shore wind. Also being March it was a brisk 6°C here in the UK 💨🌊

From previous paddles I predicted it would take around 5 - 6 hours so had to be willing to be out in the elements for that amount of time. This time I managed to complete it in about 4 hours and 15 minutes, which was a nice surprise! Rather that than under predict a challenge! ⏱

Admittedly it would have been better to wait for calmer conditions, but I was prepared for the weather and confident in myself to be out there amongst it. I have a lot of paddling experience and regularly take on endurance challenges 🤙🏼
