I'm a senior at The University of South Florida here in Tampa studying Broadcast TV News and am semi-bilingual. I graduate this December and am counting down the minutes. I am starting to narrow down my prospects for a full time MMJ, reporter, or entertainment reporter position and am absolutely happy and willing to relocate. While I have adored telling Tampa's stories, I am open to a new city and adventure.
For some background, I've been reporting in Tampa, Florida for almost two years now and have had a total of 6 internships at almost every station since my freshman year. I currently work for a nationally syndicated talk show on our NBC station with a reach of over 13.6 million homes. I am a part of the Florida Focus Newsbreak that airs daily here in Tampa on our local PBS affiliate. I also freelance report and produce about 2-3 stories a week on various people, events, and topics across Tampa. Anything from national court cases, to music festivals, to evergreen news, I will cover. My most recent characters from September include Natalie Khawam, deceased Fort Hood soldier's family's attorney, along with Vanessa's sister, Mayra, Sharelle Rosado, star of upcoming Netflix series Selling Tampa, and Vella, a local artist who recently obtained a record deal and has over 39 million followers.
I pride myself on always trying to be aware of what's going on in my city and talk to as many people as possible to produce character driven stories, regardless of the topic. When I'm not covering something myself because I do still have class and my serving job, I am booking that same guest and story angle on the talk show I currently work for, Bloom TV on WFLA. Most guests and segment ideas aired since I started working there have actually been mine, so it's been great to feel like I'm making an important contribution.
The standards I have set for myself are extremely high and rightfully so. I believe I am someone with a fire lit inside them and I intend to portray that through my hard work and product. I have spoken with countless people in the industry and those that don't know me tell me to lower my standards, and those that do know me, tell me not to even think about it. Needless to say, I'm taking the advice of those that know me and trust in what I can do. I am more than dedicated to improvement and success and have spent countless hours learning by an incredible, versatile set of mentors and by my own trial and error.
