H&N Terminator 7.25 grain pellets. Are they any good for hunting?
I have found that the H&N Terminators are an accurate pellet through most of my rifles and do well out to 30 yards. Good enough for small vermin. The rifle was averaging around 825 feet per second, or 11-foot pounds. These pellets only weigh 7.25 grains, so they will lose energy quick over distance, so I would say 30 yards is the maximum range for use. They deform really well in clay, and shape like a circus tent.
I was using these at night against Rats and mice. What I did find was that they don't over penetrate, even on small mice, but what I did find was that they were totally devastating on impact. They gave a massive hole, which looked almost like an explosion. Probably not a good idea to show on YouTube, but certainly did their job.
So, in conclusion, yes, they will do the job, but a heavier pellet, such as a 10.5 grain pellet will probably do better, as the extra weight will add even more shock value.
