RAF Beaulieu Virtual Tour + WW2 Airfield Overview

In this virtual tour of RAF Beaulieu (USAAF Station 408) I will take you through all the sites and historical elements that still exist to this day. This will let you plan your own walk and visit of this New Forest WW2 airfield.

Hopefully I’ve done the hard work for you over the last year, seeking out and researching much of this airfield so you can visit and not waste hours trying to find each area.

** CORRECTION: Around 26 mins I say that women didn't fly the planes at Beaulieu. My intention here was in reference to the WAAF. However, women in the ATA did fly planes into Beaulieu such as Mary Ellis. You can read more about here here: https://nfknowledge.org/contributions/memories-of-an-ata-girl/ **

You will see that in this video I use the Google Earth application. I deliberately chose to select the 1999 satellite imagery as it makes the identification of the airfield a lot easier. You will notice that in 1999 the images appear to be taken in summer when the landscape is clearer. 20 years ago, the aspects of the Beaulieu Aerodrome were a lot easier to identify from the air.
