i.e. and e.g. are handy abbreviations to use in your writing. But make sure you don’t get them confused! In this video, we’ll explain what these two common abbreviations mean and their correct usage.
e.g. stands for “exempli gratia” and means “for example.” Note that this is the correct way to abbreviate “for example,” not “ex.”
i.e. stands for “id est” and means “that is.”
