Founders Circle: Ledy talks with Rachael Abigail, founder and executive director of Girls Can Lead

Celebrating International Women's Day, I talk with a bright young mind, Rachael Abigail Pattinasarane (Gabby), the founder and executive director of Girls Can Lead. Gabby founded the organization 5 years ago, while she was in her final year of college and worked as an intern at the Office of the Governor of Jakarta. Started as a social movement to advocate women's involvement in politics in Indonesia, Girls Can Lead has since held Leadership Camps for girls in different cities in Indonesia, particularly in small cities and rural areas. The mission of Girls Can Lead is to encourage and train young girls, especially in the late teenage and early twenties, to become future leaders. In this talk, Gabby shared her experiences and what she still sees as challenges in the society today when it comes to women involvement.

Gabby obtained her Bachelor's degree from University of Indonesia, and Master's degree from University College London, United Kingdom (as a Chevening scholar). In 2017, she was chosen to join Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI) Academic Fellowship in Northern Illinois University, USA. She currently serves as a member of Global Youth Advisory Board at the International Republican Institute (IRI). Gabby works as a Lead Project Coordinator at Wedu Global.
