When General Grant Expelled the Jews
In celebration of Jewish American Heritage Month, the National Archives and the Jewish Historical Society of Greater Washington presented this lecture. Jonathan Sarna and Steve Roberts discuss General Grant's Order #11, which states that "The Jews, as a class, violating every regulation of trade established by the treasury department, and also department orders, are hereby expelled from this department upon the receipt of this order."
