after all this time
the feeling of
the weight sinking
monochrome
as a form of protecting myself
i wanted to hide
i felt it was time to go
trying to find a sign
for making up my mind

what does it mean to be alive?
thoughts in my mind
like tangled string
i'm trying to untie
i'd almost given up
i almost went to leave
letting that sinking feeling pull
further and further

i find it hard to heal
i find it hard to see
i can't even cry
even though i've tried
i was so close
why did i let that feeling slip away?
but i suppose like all things
this is a fleeting feeling
i don't really know what i think or feel anymore
just going through the motions
again, and again
falling through the cracks

but i think i might be able to start again
with a new perspective
so that when the sinking stops
and i find myself in stasis
magnetically pulled upwards
to the light at the end of the tunnel

something as seemingly simple
as a new idea
can lead you to find
an exit strategy
folding those heavy feelings
into a paper plane
and letting them float away
even though i'm lost
with an ever-changing compass

i feel less worried
and i feel okay
that i just don't really know
where i belong
the weight starts to feel lighter
finally starting to see colour
as we float slowly upwards
to the exit
