Data v/s Democracy | Nope w/ Kunal Kamra ft Atul Sood | 072

Atul Sood is an economist and Professor at the Centre for the Study of Regional Development at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU). His work focuses on political economy, development, inequality, labour markets, and the changing nature of capitalism in India. He has written extensively on economic policy, globalization, and the social consequences of development models. In this conversation, Atul Sood examines how a new “common sense” around the economy is being constructed in India through policy discourse, media narratives, and institutional framing. He discusses issues such as welfare policies, global indices, labour markets, and textbook changes, arguing that many economic debates are shaped in ways that preserve the status quo while limiting critical public discussion.
