India’s organised gold jewellery market could witness one of its sharpest volume slowdowns in over a decade, according to a new report by CRISIL Ratings.

The report warns that soaring gold prices and the recent customs duty hike may lead to a 13–15% decline in jewellery demand volumes this fiscal, even as revenues continue to rise due to elevated prices and better realisations.

Speaking to ET Now, Himank Sharma explained how rising gold prices are changing consumer behaviour, with demand increasingly shifting from jewellery toward gold bars and coins as an investment avenue.
