In India, the Assam government has approved the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) bill, which is set to be introduced in the state assembly on 26th May. The bill reportedly includes exemptions for tribal communities.

In Tamil Nadu, Chief Minister Vijay secured a major political victory by winning the floor test in the state assembly with 144 votes in his favour, strengthening his government’s position.
