Aerial footage shows devastation after tornado rips through Barrie, Ont. suburb

On the ground and in the air on Friday, Global News was at the site of the neighbourhood in Barrie, Ont. that was ripped apart by a category EF-2 tornado the day before.

The tornado's path was about five kilometres long and up to 100 metres wide, and it destroyed dozens of homes.

Drone footage from the area showed shingles blown off rooftops, debris all over properties and along the roads, cars damaged and on their roofs, and major structural damage.

Barrie Mayor Jeff Lehman said Friday morning that a total of 11 people were injured from the tornado. No fatalities were reported.
