DIY | Mosaik Blumentopf selber machen - How to make a mosaic flower pot

In this video will show you how to make a beautiful mosaic flower pot for your garden or your windowsill.
You can use any kinds of tiles (even old china) but I prefer the brilliant colors of vitreous glass.
You need:

• Terracotta flowerpot
• Vitreous glass tiles
• Tile nipper
• Brush
• PVA glue
• Dispersion adhesive
• Brown grout
• Rubber gloves
• Sponge
Step by step guide:

1. Make a drawing directly onto your pot with a pencil.
2. Prime the pot with pva glue to reduce the absorbency of the pot so the adhesive does not dry out too quickly.
3. Let it dry.
4. Cut your tiles into the desired shape. For the stem cut the tiles into quarters.
5. When you squeeze your tile nipper to cut the tile, squeeze gently and put your other hand over the nipper as a cover so the tiles you cut stay on your workspace.
6. Start sticking the first tiles down by putting a little bit of adhesive onto the back of each tile with a tiny brush.
7. Press them firmly down and leave a tiny joint between your tiles that will later be filled with grout.
8. Remove all excessive adhesive.
9. For the petals also cut the tiles in half and then nibble away the edges to get an oval shape.
10. Continue to add pieces to your design. Do not despair when sometimes the pieces don’t break as you want them to, just take a new piece and try again.
11. Turn the pot over so that you avoid knocking off tiles as you work.
12. First I only wanted to cover the lower part of the pot, so I grouted it but then I decided the design definitely needed some sky, so I removed the extra grout on the edges and continued to add some blue tiles on the top.
13. When the tiles are all placed, let it dry (normally around 12 hours).
14. Mix the grout to a thick paste with water. I chose a brown grout as I like it to be a similar color to the terracotta pot but you can pick any grout color you like.
15. Put on some rubber gloves and work the paste into all the tiny joints between your tiles.

17. After that take a damp sponge and start cleaning the surface. Always use a clean side of your sponge avoiding spreading all the grout back over the face of the tiles.
18. As a last finish swipe it with a clean, dry cloth.
