A quarter of a million Australians will retire this year, and all of them want to be financially secure for the rest of their lives.

But it's not guaranteed under the current compulsory super system, without help from the Aged Pension.

Some people choose to go it alone, with a self-managed fund. But they carry their own risks and aren't for the uninitiated.
