Blues Piano - A Composition to Master | 12 Bar Blues & Tips
Well, isn't this exciting! I came up with a blues composition which provides you with a few riffs to apply but it is meant to be just a framework for you to add your own style and tastes to rather than just forcing ideas down your throat. Please excuse the camera wabble; it was too close to my chair and didn't know it was happening.
---
A quick look at the blues scale and 12 bar blues (with demos) and then it's into the composition which goes around the 12 bar blues twice. I offer to options: shuffle or walking bass (with demos). Take your pick or try another one.

As with all new musically related things, LISTEN and identify what You enjoy most. Here are the three links mentioned in the video:
1. Ray Charles: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UIGoqv8zlRE (If 'at least' this intro doesn't 'at least' make your eyes water then, quite honestly, you may wish to reconsider studying the Blues because this should pierce your very being);
2. Dr. John: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=33IujcZcurs (A good example of straight eighths rather than swinging eighths);
3. Oscar Peterson: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yUkKFRcsyiY (Quite possibly the most sensation example of swinging eights blues ever performed on a piano since the big bang - do listen until the end and, oh, wear at least two pairs of socks because you're losing the first pair).
12 Bar Blues Structure: I / / / | I / / / | I / / / | / / / | IV / / / | / / / / | I / / / | / / / / | V / / / | IV / / / | I / / / | V / / / ||: (repeat). Modified version replaces the second 'I' with a 'IV' for one bar, as discussed and demonstrated.
