Your First Brisket!
We have been teaching people how to cook brisket for over 10 years. I think it’s about time we wrap everything up into a YouTube video. I have seen more people asking how to cook brisket this summer, then I have ever seen before in my life. That’s awesome. Hopefully this video will give people a little more confidence, and let them understand it’s not a difficult task with a little education.
We’re cooking this one on a:
FYoder YS640S Pellet Smoker,
and doing our trimming / carving with the best knives in BBQ - Route 83 knives. The rubs we use are our own competition-proven recipes, but feel free to substitute any commercial brisket rub or even S&P.
Steps:
1. Purchase a full brisket, 12-14 lbs
2. Trim excess fat
3. Spice rub
4. Smoke at 250 for 7-8 hours or until the bark is dark and well established.
5. Wrap brisket in wide heavy foil
6. Continue cooking until the probe meets no resistance when inserted in the brisket
7. Remove and rest brisket for 1-2 hours
8. Carve and enjoy!
