Borrowing costs SOAR to 'highest this CENTURY' as Labour Left demand Starmer SPLURGE on welfare

The Labour Left have issued Keir Starmer with demands to tear up Rachel Reeves' fiscal rules to pave way for a spending spree on cost of living programmes.

Released around the same time the bond markets opened, borrowing costs soared. The thirty year gilt yield reached its highest level this century, previously reached in 1998. Ten year gilt yields were within touching distance of their 2008 high.

More than 70 MPs have called on Keir Starmer to resign and a junior minister resigned from the government Tuesday morning. The Prime Minister told Cabinet he intended to remain in post.
