Maksutov and an F6.3 reducer

This video shows the adapters I used to make an Orion 127mm Maksutov compatible with an SCT Antares F6.3 focal reducer. There’s example photos taken with an ASI 1600 Cool and a Canon APS-C DSLR. From my tests I’ve concluded that every sensor size up to APS-C is compatible. The full frame Canon 6D I used was clipped so I omitted the results. I realize that reducing a Maksutov is not a popular idea but it’s a topic I see very little information on. I felt obligated to do my own research and share it. By now most people should be aware that 1.25” 0.5 reducers work for framing Lunar and Solar. There’s always a need for them when framing is an issue. Let’s take this one trick pony a little further than planetary nebula and star clusters. I specifically chose the Antares due to its lack of field correction. The Maksutov is already a corrected design. Adding a reducer with a flattener would roll the edges have an adverse effect. I know some of you own only this scope. I also know that this information is useful and I hope it reaches the right people. Clear skies.
