Exploring Virtual Avatars in Higher Education: Meet the Digital Prof. Straube!

In this video, you’ll see the avatar of Prof. Dr. Andreas Straube, professor at the Rosenheim Technical University of Applied Sciences, founder of the Master’s program in Advanced Industrial Engineering, and initiator of the Innovations Lab.

We are currently experimenting with the use of avatars in higher education. The avatar shown here was created using professional animation software. The facial model was generated based on a photo of Prof. Straube. The animations were produced with the help of artificial intelligence.

To achieve this, we first recorded a video of Prof. Straube explaining key aspects of the study program. Both the video and the audio track were used. Motion data was extracted using AI software and applied to the avatar as animation.

At the end of the video, you will find a QR code that allows you to download the avatar to your mobile phone. Enjoy exploring!
