Dear Brothers & Sisters,

In this Bali vlog I share with you the incredible impact the global lockdown has had on places like Bali, specifically on the seaweed farmers in Nusa Lembongan. I want to share with you all what life is like over here during these crazy times. Sarah Armide and I took a trip out to Nusa Lembongan over New Years to explore around, go manta ray diving in Nusa Penida, and interview a local seaweed farmer to understand how his life has changes since the lockdown.

When tourism was taken from them, they had to resort back to what they were doing 20 years ago before tourism struck the island, which is mainly farming.

80% of Bali's income used to come from tourism, and now that that's gone due to the lockdown, the Balinese have been significantly affected. They have resorted to selling any possessions they may have had and have returned to a far more basic way of life. The impact the lockdown has had on some of these communities is devastating. They were impoverished to begin with, but now they are extraordinarily impoverished.
