An area where station attendants at Jeongdongjin Station have kept safe and disinfected from the dark. Jeongdongjin is one of the most popular destinations for visitors who wish to see the sunrise. Their eyes are filled with anticipation and hope for the new year.
The bus driver of the bus no. 6411 takes early morning commuters to their workplace from Guro to Gangnam. They see the sun rises between skyscrapers as they move across the metropolitan.
Meanwhile, there are sanitation workers anxious to start their first day at work. Sunlight shines through the morning as it deflects off a clean street the new public staff cleaned by clearing out garbage bins all morning.
Coast guards in Sokcho who withstand the cold air and waves at dawn make sure the coast is safe overnight.
The sun rises over the horizon of the peaceful water bed, brightening the world.

Morning is when works begin. Dawn starts before that.
Thanks to those who start their days earlier than others to clean, protect, and transport others, our world and life remains clean and active.

어둠 속에서 정동진 역무원들이 안전을 살피며 전후방을 살핀 자리.
그곳으로 해맞이하러 정동진을 찾는 사람들.
그들의 눈빛 속에 새해를 앞둔 벅찬 기대와 희망이 담겨 있다.
캄캄한 새벽 4시부터 6411번 버스 기사는 구로에서 강남까지
새벽 출근하는 고단한 이들을 태우고 건물 사이로 뜨는 해를 바라본다.
그리고 긴장의 첫 출근 날, 생전 처음 쓰레기를 수거한
동해시의 청년 미화원들도 구슬땀을 흘리며 깨끗한 거리를 비추는 햇빛을 맞이한다.
차가운 밤바다 공기를 헤치고 안전을 살피는 속초의 해양경찰들,
그들이 지킨 평화로운 바다 위로 해가 떠오른다. 세상을 환히 비춘다.

일과가 시작되는 아침, 그보다 앞선 시각 새벽.
어둠 속에서 한발 먼저 거리를 치우고 지키고,
두발 먼저 그들을 데려온 사람들로 인해
우리네 삶은 깨끗하고 원활하게 돌아가고 있다.
2021년, 부지런한 소의 해를 첫날 새벽 벽두부터 시작하는 사람들,
그들의 이야기를 들어본다.
