In The Wire, the co-op meets to collect funds to buy the connect off Marlo. Fat face Rick makes a comment about how things were good with Proposition Joe, Cheese’s uncle, before Cheese decided to work with Marlo. Cheese immediately pulls a gun on Rick and launches into a precious speech about things not being back in the day. When Cheese lowers his gun, he is immediately shot by Slim Charles.

The initial reaction of Cheese – to pull a gun and makes threats – seems pretty over the top, and I theorise that Cheese would know the co-op would be bitter about how he acted as Marlo’s laptop while the man played dictator. He knew the others were irritated, so he therefore was prepared for the second his relationship with Marlo was bought up to pull out a gun and start ranting, to show everyone that he wouldn’t tolerate people talking about him like that. And it worked, until, well…
