In November 2018, voters approved a referendum to fund improvements at both ACGC Elementary and 5-12 Schools.
At the 5-12 School one of the most visible improvements will be the addition of a new secure entry through the existing west district office area. Traffic on the site will be revised, and visitors to the school will be directed to the west parking lot.  A new gate arm and revised curbs will prevent visitors or other car traffic from entering the bus loading and unloading area to the north.  The visitor will enter the building through a new vestibule to be greeted in a renovated reception and waiting area. Staff at the new reception desk will now have a view to the main south student entry through a new window in the south office wall (next to the granite Hall of Fame).  Security within the school will also be upgraded with new interior doors controlled from the Office (or other locations) that create secure zones in a lock-down situation.
Inside the 5-12 School significant improvements will be made to the mechanical systems including replacement of the main air handling units and adding air-conditioning.  The new air-cooled chiller to provide the cooling will be located on the east side of the building.  An invisible but important upgrade will be the replacement of the existing Building Automation System (BAS) which controls the operation of the heating, cooling and ventilation systems.  A new digital system will provide better and more complete monitoring and control of these systems for both efficiency and occupant comfort.  To simplify District operations, the same system will be installed at the Elementary School.
LHB will work on drawings and specifications for both the Elementary and 5-12 School projects through the summer, and release them to contractors for bidding in September.  Construction work is scheduled to begin in December 2019 and be complete in September 2020.
