Vinayak Damodar Savarkar is known as the greatest hero of nationalism. He was the first line fighter and the fiercest nationalist leader of the Indian independence movement, who is called Swatantravir, Veer Savarkar.
Veer Savarkar was born on 28 May 1883 in 'Bhagur', a village in Nashik district of Maharashtra (then Bombay Presidency).
Savarkar did his Bachelor of Arts (BA) from Ferguson College in Pune (Pune). In those days, India was stuck in the clutches of the British. Veer Savarkar refused to take the oath of loyalty to the British. The government at that time found him active in anti-government activities and withdrew his degree.
In June 1906, he went to London to become a barrister. After going to London, Savarkar had said in a secret meeting that 'I will go to the enemy's house and show the power of Indians'.
Veer Savarkar has written many books, some books are quite popular. He has written a book about the austerity and first freedom struggle from Hindutva to his life. Let me tell you about 5 books.

Savarkar had read books based on the revolution of 1857. If Veer Savarkar had not been there, the revolution of 1857 would not have become the first freedom struggle.
He wrote a book called 'The Indian War of Independence-1857'. Savarkar did a deep study about the revolution of 1857 and wrote sensational information in his book. He described this revolution as the first freedom struggle and his book shook the British rule.

Veer Savarkar was in London and Collector AMT Jackson was killed in Nashik. They were charged that the pistol from which Jackson was killed was sent by Savarkar from London.

He was arrested from London and brought to India. Savarkar was pronounced double Kala Pani i.e. 50 years on the charge of Jackson's murder and rebellion against the British rule.

It was the time of 1936, when Congress blacklisted Savarkar, not only that he was opposed everywhere and black flags were shown. Meanwhile, a famous artist PK Atre came out openly with Savarkar.

After inviting Savarkar to a function in Pune. Congress workers threatened that they would show black flag. After this, PK Atre gave the title, which is popular till date. He said that 'he who is not afraid of kaala paani, why will he be afraid of black flags?'

Atre gave Savarkar the title of 'Swatantryavir'. After this, Savarkar got the title of Veer. No one can doubt Savarkar's bravery.

In 1923, Veer Savarkar called 'Hindutva - Who is Hindu?' (Hindutva: Who Is a Hindu?). For the first time, Hindutva was used as a political ideology.

After his release in 1924, he worked as a Hindu renaissance, campaigning to end untouchability in Hinduism. In the year 1937, Veer Savarkar became the President of the Hindu Mahasabha.

Savarkar is also known as a social reformer. He firmly believed that social and public reforms value equality and complement each other. The special thing is that the social upliftment program of Veer Savarkar was not limited to Hindus only, but he dreamed of a better society and a better nation.

He died on February 26, 1966, after 19 years of independence.
