Crumbed Mushrooms with Tartar Sauce

Ingredients Crumbed Mushrooms:
250gm of whole mushrooms
2l of Cooking Oil
1x Cup of Flour
1x 200gm (Packet) of Original Breadcrumbs
2x Large Eggs
Ingredients Tartar Sauce:
1x Teaspoon of Fine Salt
50gm of Fresh Chives
75gm of Gherkins
½ a Cup of Mayonnaise
1x Tablespoon of Lemon Juice

Method Crumbed Mushrooms:
Take 250gm of whole mushrooms. Take your paper towel and wipe the mushrooms clean with the paper towel. Don’t use water, because the mushroom will retain the water and let the mushroom shrink in the frying process. Add the clean mushrooms onto a plate. Add 1 cup of Flour to a bowl. Add the original breadcrumbs packet into another bowl. Take a mixing bowl and crack 2 large eggs into the mixing bowl. Add 1 teaspoon of fine salt to the mixing bowl and stir very well till the eggs is scrambled. Take 1 mushroom and add the mushroom to the flour bowl to get covered in flour. Secondly add the flour mushroom to the scrambled egg mixture. Lastly add the mushroom to the breadcrumbs bowl to get covered in breadcrumbs. Remove the mushroom from the breadcrumbs bowl and add the mushroom to a plate. Repeat this process till all the mushrooms is covered in breadcrumbs. Add the breadcrumbed mushrooms to your fridge for 1 hour to set. Get your braai up to 250 degrees Celsius of heat. Add your cast iron casserole to the braai. Add 2l of cooking oil to the casserole and close the lid. Leave your braai so that the cooking oil can get hot. The cooking oil took me 10 minutes to get hot. Add the mushrooms to the hot oil in casserole. Turn the mushrooms around every minute in the casserole while frying. The mushrooms took me 3 minutes to fry perfectly in the oil on the braai. Remove the mushrooms from the oil when golden brown and serve with the tartar sauce.

Method Tartar Sauce:
Take 50gm of fresh Chives and finely chop them up. Take 75gm of Gherkins and finely chop them up too. Add the chopped-up chives and gherkins into a mixing bowl. Add ½ a cup of Mayonnaise to the mixing bowl. Add 1 Tablespoon of Lemon Juice to the mixing bowl. Stir very well till the tartar sauce is mixed. Add the tartar sauce to your fridge to rest.
