Connecting Indonesian Islands (documentary)

Connecting the Islands: How difficult is it to provide a phone signal in the remotest villages of Indonesia, a land of 17,500 islands? It’s very very hard! It involves scary boat rides, pushing and pulling SUVs stuck in mud pools, and carrying heavy equipment on rough footpaths to reach the best location for a wireless network tower.

In Connecting the Islands, we follow the courageous engineers from Huawei and its partners as they overcome challenge after challenge to connect unconnected communities on isolated islands in the province of Papua. For them, it’s all worth it because it’s work that’s vital to the communities. Two years in the making, this video is the first documentary self-produced by Huawei.
