Japan holds competition for ‘most spaced-out person’

Hundreds of Japanese youths participated in an event in Tokyo to compete for the top spot as “most spaced-out person”, says Sky News host James Macpherson.

Participants were disqualified if they talked or slept but received points if their vacant stare was sufficiently vacant.

The event had staff taking the pulse of participants to make sure their heart rate was at an appropriately low level.

“It’s like an episode of the Late Debate,” Mr Macpherson said.

“It’s us to a tee.”
