Black Swan market update aug 5, 2024

Is it a Black Swan Event?
Hey guys, it's Chris. Hey, I want to give you a market update. If you'd pay attention to social media at all, you'll see that today was supposed to be a black swan event, like one of these horrific days in the market. At five in the morning when I woke up, the market futures, the S &P 500 futures was down about 9%, which would be a pretty significant decline for a single day. However, at market open, the market opened about 3 .5 % down. It's currently sitting at about 2 % down.
So, much ado about nothing. It's definitely a down day, but not quite as tragic as a black swan event. If you do have somebody on the sidelines and you've been thinking about putting the market, the market has strung together quite a few down days in a row, would be a great opportunity to maybe get in on discount. And again, we want to focus on our long -term goals. We're not interested in short -sightedness. It's not about timing the market. It's about time in the market.
