1972 Fiat Abarth Osella SE Start up and Drive! LOUD!

These extremely attractive and potent little 2-litre sports-prototype Abarth is typical of the cars produced by the legendary Torinese marque in small numbers. Enzo Osella the Abarth engineer who acquired the company and ultimately set off under his own name eventually to compete in Formula 1 - is credited with majority design and development of this monocoque-chassised 2-litre sports-racing Abarth which was aimed at the well-supported European 2-Litre Sports Car Championship series. There it faced primarily Chevron and Lola opposition. Quasi-works star driver Arturo Merzario qualified on a shatteringly fast pole position and set fastest race lap in the opening round of the 1972 European Championship at the Ricard-Castellet circuit in the south of France. His Abarth-Osella SE was entered on behalf of the factory by Scuderia Brescia Corse.
