Impact of COVID-19 on seafarers
Almost 1.5 million seafarers are working on international liners, tankers and cargo ships around the world. The majority are from the Philippines, India and China. The COVID-19 pandemic has hit the industry hard, with crew members spending months alone on vessels. There are increasing calls for them to be recognised as key workers.
