Below are some of the items which I believe to be essential (and didn't mention in the video) or optional depending on your preferences.

ESSENTIAL

1.Birthing Plan/Preferences & Maternity notes.
I don't carry any maternity notes with me as my hospital has this all electronically but I have now popped my Birth Plan at the top of my bag. I used a template from The Positive Birth Company as part of my hypno birthing course but here's a link to the NHS one which is still handy:

2.Car Seat And/Or Pram

You will need these to leave the hospital with your baby. However, I won't be taking mine the day that I go into hospital for my labour. I would much rather wait for my partner to bring it round during his visiting slot the next day. (One less thing to worry about on the big day)

OPTIONAL

1.Water Bottle

2.Camera & Camera charger

3. Essential Oils/Room Spray (Or anything that you think might help you relax)

4. Dressing Gown (This might make you feel more comfortable and covered up)

5.Snacks (This is something I will be packing soon, anything that will keep your energy levels up)

6.Witch Hazel Spray (To use after labour as this helps with pain after labour and possible haemorrhoids)

7. Peri Bottle/Extra water bottle (I used a water bottle every time I went to the toilet after my first labour and it was an absolute life saver)

8.Hand Sanitiser (Because COVID- although the hospital should have plenty but you may prefer your own)
