** I got this as a request. I can't say I'd heard it before then, but I like it. The only other Ugly Kid Joe Song I know is Cat's in the cradle (The Harry Chapin cover). This one was hard to tab. Not because it was hard to tell what was played, but because there was a lot that kept changing and the rhythms weren't straight and on the beat. It reminds me of when I tabbed Piece of my Heart (By Janis Joplin) because the different verses and choruses are similar, but they aren't cut and paste from each other. There's a lot of syncopation and rhythmic stuff to tab out. Also, the positioning is pretty tricky. You can play a lot of it using open strings, or you can shift up the fret board and use the 5,7,9 frets a lot. It took 3 hours for my first pass up through the bridge.

I tabbed this out all by ear since I could hear it (with only a little help from videos). I looked at this video to help with positioning.

you can see the general positioning of the bassist like if he's high or low on the neck.
In the beginning you can tell he hangs around the 5th and 7th fret, and in the bridge you can tell it's around the 2nd and 4th frets
after the first solo (in the verse) he's around the 5 and 7 again, and then in the chorus shifts back down to the 2 and 4

This is the other video I found that was helpful. Probably more helpful than the first.
below is the general positioning I found and used:
1st verse he's by the 7,
1st chorus by the 2
2nd verse is up high
2nd chorus low
bridge - down low
1st solo - (neither vid shows)
3rd verse - high
3rd chorus - low
2nd solo - low
outro - low

On my 2nd pass through the tab, I fixed these positions and some things that just seemed more complicated than they should be. Looking at the live videos, the bassist doesn't move around too much, so I think I was imagining notes that weren't there. Maybe they were guitar notes or something.
I generally like to tab it out so the start of every beat is clear. That's something my band director drilled into me because the band often doesn't like to read the dotted quarter, dotted quarter, quarter rhythm to fill a bar. They usually mess it up, and so that's why I did so many tied rhythms here instead of just using the dotted ones.
Overall, this tab took me about 16 hours to tab, edit, fix, and check over a few times to make sure everything was good
