The Global Food Waste Scandal | Tristram Stuart | TEDxNairobi

Tristram Stuart talks about the global food waste, calling for us to change the systems whereby large quantities of produce and other foods end up in the trash.

Tristram Stuart is the winner of the international environmental award, The Sophie Prize 2011, for his book, Waste: Uncovering the Global Food Scandal (Penguin,2009), which revealed that Western countries waste up to half of their food, and that tackling this problem is one of the simplest ways of reducing pressure on the environment and on global food supplies. Tristram has now become a renowned campainer and set Feeding 5000, the flagship event of a global food waste campaign where 5000 members of the public are given a free lunch using only ingredients that otherwise would have been wasted.

This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at http://ted.com/tedx
