Ariane 5 ES launches Galileo FOC-M8 (Galileo SAT 23-26)
An Ariane 5 ES launch vehicle (Ariane Flight VA244) launched Galileo FOC-M8 from Ariane Launch Complex No. 3 (ELA 3) at Guiana Space Centre in Kourou, French Guiana, on 25 July 2018, at 11:25 UTC (08:25 local time). Galileo FOC-M8 satellites (Galileo SAT 23, Galileo SAT 24, Galileo SAT 25, Galileo SAT 26) will begin to be deployed 3 hours and 36 minutes after the launch. The next Galileo satellites will be launched by Ariane 6 A62 version during a timeframe between December 2020 and June 2021. Galileo is Europe’s own global navigation satellite system, providing a highly accurate, guaranteed global positioning service under civilian control. This was the 99th Ariane 5 launch.
