PERFORMANCE BY DESIGN: A Look Into The Future of Performance Management Systems

A few years ago, many companies had too much disillusionment with the Performance Management System and Bell Curve or normalization process. Several leading firms completely did away with the PMS as we knew it, and adopted a KPI only approach that rewarded performance with only numerical achievement of numerical targets. Individual development needs were addressed in coaching conversations with superiors, peer conversations, and perhaps often not even captured in a systematic form or acted upon in any way. This worked for a while but now we find that managers tend to use the target rating system to drive only the numbers and professional development, leadership qualities, and teamwork etc. tend to be neglected and company culture suffers. We see increasing alienation, quiet resignation and attrition at record levels.
In this video we look at the future of Performance Management Systems and how they are evolving in ways that actually contribute to success in goal achievement, and create a positive organizational culture and leadership development.
