Cape Coast was once the largest slave trading center in West Africa.
Up to one thousand slaves were be kept in the dungeons. In each room, there was usually 200 slaves and no space to even lie down. The Door of No Return, was a door that led the slaves to the ships that would transfer them to The Americas. More than 12 million slaves were shipped out of Africa to supply labor to countries around the world. The Cape Coast Castle is in Ghana and you can visit it today.
