5-Hour ENERGY Helps: Somy Ali with No More Tears

Somy Ali was a famous Bollywood actress. Using her savings, she started the non-profit No More Tears to help victims of domestic abuse. Seven days a week Somy volunteers, leaving brochures in ethnic food stores, helping survivors escape their abusers, going with her survivors to court hearings and helping in any other way she can.

According to the National Institute of Justice and CDC, one in four women will experience domestic violence in her lifetime.

No More Tears has saved more than 300 foreign and American adults and 660 children.

No More Tears pays for each domestic violence survivor to live in an apartment for two months during which time they learn English, how to drive, write checks and go to school.

5-hour ENERGY Helps surprised Somy with a check for $50,000 at which point Somy said, “I’m going to cry, we have literally nothing left in the account. We have 32 cents.” Somy said the money will first go towards getting their newest survivor who was held capture in a home for three years into an apartment. “This woman was going to be homeless, we didn’t have funds to put her in a home… today is the best day of my whole world,” said Somy thankfully.
