#13 Replacing Missing Windows in an HST Power Car with South Eastern Finecast Glazing
I bought a secondhand Hornby HST power car set (latest tooling). It was in good condition, but sold as having two missing windows. After being unable to track down replacements direct from Hornby or their spares agents, I looked for other options.
I could have tried designing windows using Silhouette Studio and my Cameo cutter, but I didn't have any clear plasticard in stock and it would have been fiddly getting glazing to get just right alongside the factory fitted units. So, I thought I'd give South Eastern Finecast's glazing for the original Hornby HST models a go (product code: SE16).
To my surprise, the glazing for the missing guard's compartment window was a decent fit, albeit it required a little shimming. The glazing unit for the missing sliding door wasn't such a perfect fit, but would nonetheless be a reasonable alternative to no window!
Items required for the repair work and installation are:
- South Eastern Finecast SE16 Flush Glazing Kit for Hornby HST
- Deluxe Material Glue 'n Glaze
- Silver paint pen (fine nib)
- Masking tape
- Various tools, including: jeweller's screwdrivers, cocktail sticks, an exacto knife and cutting mat.
Thank you very much for watching.
