Shimshal Valley - The Land of Whispering Winds

Shimshal is a very lonely village up north in Gilgit Baltistan. The highest and most remote settlement of Hunza. Shimshal is the last village of Pakistan, Shimshal pass connects it with the Pamir Mountains and China.

Before 2004, a 3-day trek was required to reach the village. Now a jeep track, one of the most dangerous roads in the world starts from Passu to Shimshal and takes about 4 hours.

What Sharpas are to the mountaineering of Nepal, Shimshalians are to Pakistan. This village has produced the best mountaineers in Pakistan. They have a school for girls to train them for mountaineering.

Shimshalians believe in community, and for all of their needs, they help each other. They have this special charitable system in which members of the community do good deeds like building bridges and roads.

This vlog features a trip to Shimshal at the start of winters with friends from France, Germany, Australia, and China.
