Epoxy Resin Soap or Lotion Dispenser

I wanted to make something for my sister using colors she likes. She is really into a Santa Fe-type vibe and terracotta is her favorite color (if it may be classified as such). On my first take, I poured the tinted resin in one go, filling the mold. As you will see, I did not achieve a separation of color at all; BUT ... the outcome to me was beautiful.

Since the intent was to have a separation of color, I tried again. As opposed to pouring the colors all at once, I poured a small amount of singular color in the mold and allowed it to cure with the mold tilted. I then did this with each color, until the mold was filled. This took me about a week or so, due to the cure time in between, but the outcome is rather unique and striking. Now, let's just hope my sister likes them! 🤞🏼

Technique:

First, use water to determine the total amount of resin you will need to fill the mold

Mix selected resin

Tint individual cups of resin in desired colors

Either pour directly or use a syringe to add colors to the mold

Add clear resin mixed with gilding flakes and pour until the mold is almost full

Add gilding flakes directly to mold and cover with clear resin to fill the mold

Add resin to the lid mold

Allow curing per manufacturers instructions and demold

Optional Technique:
Mix a small amount of resin and add a single color choice

Add to the mold and lay the mold at an angle so the resin forms a triangular pattern

Allow curing per manufacturers instructions

Continue in each corner of the mold with a different color

Continue until the entire mold is filled

Note: It took me about 12 pours

Add provided pump

I chose to use a hot glue gun to permanently place the lid on the base.
