Climbing Guajara -Tenerife's 3rd Highest Peak
South of Teide in the Las Cañadas National Park is Guajara Mountain, which has an elevation of 2,718 metres. At the bottom, is an endorheic basin flanked with very fine sedimentary material which has been deposited from its volcanic processes and is known as Llano de Ucanca. There are two routes up the mountain - via the Guajara Pass and the Ucanca Pass. On this walk, I climbed from the National Parador to the Ucanca Pass before climbing to the summit and descending via the Guajara Pass. I returned to the Parador via the Siete Cañadas Trail. On the summit are the remains of an old astronomical observatory.
