RAM 1500 ECODIESEL Fuel Economy Test | AMAZING Mileage!!

Ram 1500 EcoDiesel fuel economy test. This Ecodiesel is a very fuel efficient engine with ram claiming 27 MPG, so I tested this engine out in the real world to see is really that good. I also compared the Eco diesel to the HEMI in my own Ram 1500 to see how much better the diesel engine is in these ram 1500 pick up trucks.

I set out to determine just how fuel efficient the ram 1500 Eco diesel is on the highway. Lots of folks have told me about the amazing fuel rating on these trucks so I wanted to test is out for myself! I also thought it would be cool to compare this engine to my Hemi because the Hemi is actually a pretty efficient truck on the highway.

First we tested out the Hemi on a 40km highway loop and we averaged 12.0Liter/100km or around 19MPG. Next we got the notorious Eco diesel on the highway and it blew the HEMI our of the water averaging 9.4 Liter/100km or 25 MPG.

I also did the math on the real numbers in terms of total fuel burnt vs total distance and the numbers were very similar. obviously the trucks both said they were slightly more efficient then they actually were but thats to be expected

lastly I got in my 98 Chev with a 5.7 L small block and did the same loop just to show everyone how far the pick up truck has really come in 25 years. it average a pretty poor 13 MPG LOL.
