Father uses AI to learn about son’s illness, connect with scientists

When Thomas Wagner and his wife Stephanie discovered their 7-month-old son Max had a rare genetic disorder, Thomas turned to AI for help. With no science background he used artificial intelligence to understand his son’s rare illness — and to communicate with scientists directly who are now working to find a treatment. NBC’s Kate Snow reports for TODAY.
