When a few different publications named the New Balance Fresh Foam Zante "Shoe of the Year" inside of the first two months of 2015, we were partially intrigued and partially thinking, "umm...it's only February". Well, now we're here to officially eat some crow. While we won't go so far as to call the Zante "Shoe of the Year" just yet - look for that come July - we can safely say that if it's NOT named as such by Gearist, it'll be very surprising.

The Zante is a completely new shoe in New Balance's Fresh Foam line. When we tried out the first shoe in this series, the Fresh Foam 980, we were quite impressed by the shoe itself but thought that the marketing and messaging were way off. With the Zante, none of that matters and what we have here is a light, super smooth riding and fast shoe that could just as easily be your 5k shoes as it could be your marathon shoe - and maybe even longer if you're a glutton for punishment by distance!
