Installing septic system instalation and plumbing. Building our Dream house in Philippines #8.

Today we are digging holes for our septic tanks and also the below ground drain pipes to the septic tanks. You need just the right amount of drop to the tank. If your drop is not enough that waste will not wash down and collect in the pipe making a blockage. Also if you are not careful and you have a low spot your waste will collect in the low spot causing a future blockage. I also installed traps to stop the septic smells from coming out of the floor drains etc.
This is common in philippines to not install traps to trap the smell. We lived in a apartment near the beach and we would sometimes get little fish in our toilet. I guess this happened at high tide and it was easy for them to jump the S bend in the toilet? At low tide you could hear the ocean through the floor drains. Sadly they just run their septic pipes straight onto the beach behind their houses.
They had the beach fenced off with a tall brick fence. I always wondered why you would waste your greatest asset like that but if the whole street dumps their sewer on the beach would you like to go to the beach?

Afetr years of use my septic system still works well. I just need others from modifying my system when I am not there. As of my last trip our parents gave permission to our neighbour to run his storm water into our tanks. This is bad for a septic tank as it washes away all the important bacteria that eat the waste. Now I am sure waste is going straight into my leach drain during strong rain. ☹
