How The Wilde Flowers Started a Prog Rock Movement | Canterbury Scene Documentary
Mini-Doc on a British rock band from the 60's that marked the beginning of a movement of unique progressive rock bands that incorporated improvisation, jazz, psychedelia, and often a bit silliness.
10 people rotated in and out of The Wilde Flowers between 1964 and 1967, many of which became very prominent members of what went on to be referred to as The Canterbury Scene, including Robert Wyatt, Kevin Ayers, Pye Hastings, Dave Sinclair, Richard Sinclair, Brian Hopper, Hugh Hopper, and Richard Couphlan.
Members from The Wilde Flowers went on to form or play in Soft Machine, Caravan, Matching Mole, Hatfield and the North, Gilgamesh, and Camel. Daevid Allen from Gong is also a prominent figure in this story.
