Nikola Tesla's 1921 Turbine / Pump / Rotary Engine / Compressor Rotor

Nikola Tesla had approximately 12 years research & development between his 1909 and 1921 rotor designs.

Tesla made a very rare patent British Patent 186,082 and his final design was described in great depth, detailing every suitable manufacturing method that was possible at the time.

Rotor Specification:

12 x 0.8mm x 126mm Hardened Stainless Steel 420HTP Precision Ground Discs

1 x 0.8mm x 126mm Hardened Stainless Steel 420HTP Precision Ground Solid Centre Disc

2 x 4mm x 126mm Hardened Stainless Steel 420HTP Precision Ground Tapered End Plates

Discs measured to have 1 micron parallelism.

Axle Specification:

1 x Aerospace Grade 5 Titanium Precision Ground Axle
1 x Aerospace Grade 5 Titanium Precision Ground Pressed End Washer
2 x Aerospace Grade 5 Titanium Precision Ground Keys
2 x Aerospace Grade 5 Titanium Spark Eroded Key Ways

To finish this design off properly you would titanium weld the pressed end washer to the shaft.

We have used hardened and tempered surgical stainless steel 420HTP.

This is superior to the Nickel Silver C770 aka "German Silver" Nikola Tesla used for his rotor discs.

Surgical steel has a high tensile and yield strength and because it has been hardened and tempered we do not need the rivets shown in the diagram, which are there to prevent the discs warping.

This rotor is built to higher engineering standards than Nikola Tesla could have achieved back in 1921.

The design is symmetrical because it helps to align the centre of balance with the centre of symmetry for an optimum dynamic balance.

The only other countries it appears this patent was approved in are:

Belgium Patent 302,317
France Patent 541,142.
