California Just Changed the Handyman Rules | AB 2622 Could Save Landlords Money Did California make

Did California just make small property repairs easier?

For the first time in nearly 20 years, the limit on handyman jobs has increased. Under AB 2622, certain repairs can now cost up to $1,000 in labor and materials before a licensed contractor is required.

There are a couple important catches: the work can't require a building permit, and the handyman can't hire helpers. If either of those applies, you'll likely need a licensed contractor.

For landlords and property owners, this could mean faster and more affordable repairs for smaller jobs like fences, faucets, and drywall repairs.
