Huanghuacheng Great Wall! 黄花城长城 2020 - 360° VR Experience

There is a famous quote attributed to Chairman Mao, "不去长城 非好汉" ("He who has not been to the Great Wall is not a true man").

Hi and welcome to THE Great Wall of China! We have just arrived to a section of the Great Wall in Huanghuacheng, which has not been restored like Mutianyu and Badaling. It is bright and sunny, but it is still freezing cold! I had to cover my ears eventually. Ahead of me, I had about 5 miles to hike and trek on my own. Little did I know, I would be traversing steep inclines/declines, snow/ice, loose rubble, and even climbing up watchtowers!

We begin our solo journey across this historic adventure! Let's explore one of the watch towers together!

During this time, the government had recently shutdown all public tour buses to all tourist attractions, due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak in Wuhan. One of the major tourist attractions that I was excited to visit and now closed was THE Great Wall. Devastated, I was fortunate enough to find a local driver from a popular "all-you-need-to-know-of-Beijing" website, theBeijinger. From there, it was a pleasurable experience. Below was my review:

"My driver and guide was Benny! He speaks English and was very helpful in answering any questions I had. If there were any concerns, he would respond with full detail. I was picked up at my hostel on time and we were on our way! Benny is a very safe driver! The hike to the lakeside was more advanced as it is the unrestored section. This was preferred over the more busy restored touristy sections. Benny provided a phone so that I can stay connected as I did my solo hike. I am completely satisfied and always felt safe with Benny as my driver and guide. I highly recommend Benny! Do not forget to wear the correct footwear, wear the right clothes, and bring water and snacks! This was a very memorable experience! Thanks Benny!"

All in all, I was able to experience one of the seven world wonders and on top of it, all to myself!
