Mercedes has revealed the new 2026 EQS facelift, bringing substantial gains in range, charging performance, and vehicle intelligence, as it pushes further into software-defined electric mobility.

At the core of the update is a new 800-volt architecture, enabling DC fast charging at up to 350 kW, and delivering approximately 320 km range in just 10 minutes.

The EQS 450+ now achieves up to 926 km of range, thanks to an improved 122 kWh battery with a higher density, and enhanced drivetrain efficiency.

A new two-speed rear transmission and upgraded electric drive units further optimize both acceleration and high-speed cruising efficiency.

The facelift also marks the debut of steer-by-wire, the first ever in a German production car, supported by a redundant safety architecture, alongside a new AI-based operating system that centralizes vehicle functions and enables continuous over-the-air updates.

The digital ecosystem is anchored by the 55-inch MBUX Hyperscreen and an AI-powered virtual assistant capable of complex interactions.

Advanced driver assistance systems now rely on a sensor suite of up to 27 inputs, while predictive Airmatic suspension uses cloud-based Car-to-X data to pre-adjust damping.

Efficiency and usability are further enhanced by features such as vehicle-to-grid capability, a drag coefficient of 0 point 20, micro-LED DIGITAL LIGHT with improved brightness and lower energy consumption, and a HEPA filtration system removing over 99.65% of airborne particles.

With these updates, the EQS strengthens its position at the top end of the electric luxury segment, combining long-range capability with high-performance charging and an increasingly software-centric user experience.
